Two Zero Zero Eight - Recap

I’ve just checked my iTunes and realized that I’ve added 197 songs in 2008. That’s an average of 16.4 songs per month, or about 1 song every other day.

But that’s not the point. The point is, what have I done in 2008? Looking back, here are some memorable events in my 28th year in this world…..

1. Travel round the world (and most of them are free, courtesy of DHL) ☺

February Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) and Manila (Philippines)

March
Mumbai and Bangalore (India)

April
Taipei (Taiwan), Shanghai and Beijing (China)

June
Amsterdam (Netherlands)

August -> Shanghai again

October
Boston (USA)

December
Fraser’s Hill, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

2. Broke a girl’s heart
It was never in my intention to hurt her, but in reality, I did. Bad, bad Stefan!

I told myself that it was because I rush into it, but going into a relationship is like a two-edged sword….. if you rush into it, you don’t really know the other person too well, and you’re taking a risk. There’s bound to be surprises along the way. But if you wait too long for it, you’ll find too many reasons not to enter a relationship. Ahh, relationship….. that’s an entirely different topic. I’m not an expert in it, but I can probably write a book about it :P

3. Gained a new family member

Julius (my bro) and Sarah (my sister-in-law)

4. Zoom zoom zoom

I bought my first car in June 2008. Mazda 3, metropolitan grey. It was love at first sight :P

5. Become a facebook addict
Started with Vampires, and now Word Challenge and Who Has The Biggest Brain

6. Gained lots of new friends (including some annoying ones), and still keeping in touch with old friend (not very exciting people, but might potentially be useful in the future)
Not an easy task, I tell you. I feel blessed that I have 324 friends on my facebook ☺

7. Move into a new place and hosted a bunch of housewarming sessions

8. Oh, and one last thing….. started a new blog! =D

How do you know it's Christmas?

Christmas is just around the corner. 3 days from now, to be exact. You can feel the atmosphere everywhere. But, in case you haven't notice it by now, here are the signs you can watch out for to know that Christmas is coming.

1. Christmas songs in the mall
Last week my Filipino colleague told me that in the Philippines, malls will start playing christmas songs and putting up decorations on 1st Sep every year. I guess Singaporeans are less kiasu when it comes to christmas....

2. Christmas decorations
In the office

At home

In the city

3. Christmas parties
Lots and lots of parties. This year I will be celebrating Christmas Eve at.... where else but Mansion du Stirling :)
We have been planning this party since a few weeks ago. Roast turkey + mashed potato + wine + company of friends = the joy of christmas.

4. Christmas gifts
Most of us will get our annual mug/candle/umbrella/paper weight/useless junk from gifts exchanges during the christmas parties. Especially now during the "recession" times.

Recession? Where? (http://www.kennysia.com/archives/2008/12/theres_a_queue.php)

5. Holiday weight

Before and After

But.... this is good news for some people, e.g : gym owners, weight management programme business :P

6. Christmas fashion
Depending on where you live, you should dress appropriately.

Boston

Singapore

Australia

7. Last but not least, you know it's Christmas when you turn up at the office and all you see is this sign on everyone's desk.

Happy holidays everyone!

Welcome, 欢迎, Wilkommen, Bienvenue!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my brand new blog, aptly titled "Stirling Chronicles". Some of you may know my previous blog (http://stefanuskusuma.blogspot.com/), but since I haven't updated that for quite some time, I think it's a good idea to have a fresh start.

A little bit about me.... I was born in a town called Bandung (Indonesia) exactly 28 years 5 months 3 days ago. I've lived there for the first 18 years of my life, and have been away for quite some time (10 years and counting now....). I currently resides in a small little dot on the map called Singapore. Anyway, you'll know more about me as I post stories.

So, what exactly is "Stirling Chronicles", you might ask? Well, I've just moved to a new place in Stirling Road about 2 months ago and it was a time for me to close another chapter of my life and embark on a new journey. This page will serve as a medium for me to do something better than facebooking in the office express my passion for writing and storytelling (something that has been buried too deep for too long).

Once again, welcome and stay tuned for ramblings, rants, complaints exciting stories!
