OK that's all for this year, folks! Quite lame compared to last year. But at least Lady G never fails to wow us. Ciao, little monsters! 

APHRODITE

The petite pop princess from down under is back! The latest offering from Kylie is an album titled Aphrodite, referring to the Greek Goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality (which perfectly describes Kylie as a performer).

Some artists, like Christina Aguilera, or Madonna, always tries to venture into new territory by changing the genre of music they offer. Kylie, on the other hand,  decided to follow a tried and tested formula. The album is essentially Kylie..... all her songs are similar in nature, with heavy beats, catchy lyrics, and campy dance moves. Not much difference from all her previous albums. But that doesn't mean a bad thing. Sometimes all we need are happy songs that just makes us wanna dance :)

Even though she's now 42 years old, but she's still the same little girl at heart who just want to have some fun. On the song 'Aphrodite', she sings "I'm fierce and I'm feeling mighty, dontcha mess with me, you don't want to fight me". Well the lyrics might say fierce, but with her voice, it just feels like a little girl singing in front of a mirror :P

Or, in Simon Cowell's words : "it's like a kitten trying to be a tigress"

Well, as far as I'm concerned, I'm still a big fan. She will definitely follow this album with a tour (as with her previous albums), and I'm hoping I can get a chance to watch one of her concerts. I have some of her concert DVDs and it looks really really fun. She doesn't necessarily have the greatest voice in the world, but to me, she's a true entertainer.

Sex sells. Everybody knows that (e.g : Ariel Peterporn - Luna Maya - Cut Tari), including a certain girl named Christina Aguilera. The diva, better known as Xtina (or Jeng Tina to some people), has just released her newest album, BIONIC. 

Right from the first single (Not Myself Tonight), it's very clear what the flavor of the album is. Try to count how many times the word bitch comes up in the album, and I bet you will lost count by the 3rd song.

After a rather mild foray into the jazz world in her previous album Back to Basics, and having a child after that, the dirrrty girl is back to her original self. You would think that having a family would tame a girl down, but apparently that is not the case for Xtina. I wonder if she will allow her children to see her videos and performance when they grow up.

Xtina : "Look baby..... here's mommy in a catsuit straddling a half naked naughty boy..... and here's when mommy performs with a flashing heart sign at my c**t." 

Well, as long as I'm concerned, it's her choice, but I have to admit, I'm still a big fan. No matter what genre of music she's singing, there is no doubt about the distinctive quality of her voice. 

There's a lot of people out there who compares her with Lady Gaga, and both sides insist that one is a copycat of the other. Oh come on, grow up! The world is big enough for both of you! I personally don't really care if they are wearing the same clothes or go to the same hairdresser..... I enjoy them both! Gaga is all about theatrics, but she certainly does not have Xtina's big pipes. 

One of the most interesting song in the album is Vanity. With lyrics like this, you can listen to this when you need a little boost of self confidence :P

Guess The Songs!

After all the things that happened this week..... sometimes the system goes on a blink and the whole thing turns out wrong.


Well I guess I'm trying to be nonchalant about it, but in reality I'm slowly losing my mind... underneath the guise of smile, gradually I'm dying inside.


Can someone tell me what is this thing that I feel like I'm missing, and why can't I let it go?

I had a dream my life would be so different from the hell I'm living, so different now from what it seemed. Now life has killed the dream I dreamed....


Somebody take me back to the days, before this was a job, before I got paid...... before it ever mattered what I had in my bank.....

I tried so hard, and got so far. But in the end, it doesn't even matter. I had to fall to lose it all.

So much for my happy ending.

I know I shouldn't be complaining and instead should be grateful for all the things that I have, but even heroes have the right to bleed.

Two is better than one?

Pada tau dong lagu ini ….. Boys Like Girls feat. Taylor Swift. (buat yang gak tau, well, educate yourself! =P)

Belakangan ini tiba2 gua jadi sering kepikiran tentang lyricsnya lagu ini. Pertama tuh pas gue lagi mandi, tiba2 aja mikir gimana ya kalo misalnya gue cuma punya satu tangan atau satu kaki (coi coi coi..... knock on wood). Repot kan pastinya ya? Nah kalo dalam hal ini ya jelas two is better than one.

Trus di tempat kerjaan ada satu colleague yang complain dia stress gara2 dia punya 2 boss dan masing2 minta hal yang berbeda pada waktu yang bersamaan. Sampe pada akhirnya dia stress banget dan resign. In this case…. two is not better than one.

And then…. fresh from the oven…. suddenly two of my best friends hook up and become a couple. I’m happy for both of them and wish them nothing but the best…..

Nah pertanyaan selanjutnya….. is three better than two??

American Idol

After 9 seasons, countless songs butchered by amateur contestants, some brilliant moments, somehow I am still sucked into watching American Idol on TV. However, this was the last season of AI with Simon Cowell. It won’t be the same without him next year, and judging by the contestant’s quality this year, I’m not sure if I will still follow it next year….

Taking a trip down memory lane, here is my review of the winners and runner ups of American Idol so far :

Season 1 : Kelly Clarkson vs Justin Guarini

I only started watching Idol from Season 2 onwards, but judging from how they are doing now, there’s absolutely no doubt who’s the winner here.

Season 2 : Ruben Studdard vs Clay Aiken

Back at those days, we were idolizing them like crazy, as if they were two of the greatest singers in the world. Looking back now, I realize how naïve I was back then. Sure, they were good, but they are not great. Where the hell is Ruben now? I still think that Clay is a better singer, but he’s just too broadway for mainstream pop.






Season 3 : Fantasia Barrino vs Diana Degarmo

It was the ladies’ year, and it was the year where Jennifer Hudson was supposed to win. But she was the first victim of people not voting because they think she would be save. So, in the end, Fantasia and Diana Degarmo (wtF??) went into the finals. We even got Jasmine Trias on top 3 (more wtF??).

Both ladies went into Broadway and doing OK there. Fantasia is definitely more unique compared to Diana.

Season 4 : Carrie Underwood vs Bo Bice

Right from the beginning (auditions / Hollywood week), I was hooked and knew who would win the season. No doubt about it. Grammy awards speaks for itself. Bo who? :P

It would be more interesting if Chris Daughtry got into the finals.






Season 5 : Taylor Hicks vs Katharine McPhee

How the hell did that old dude got into the finals, it still baffles me up to this day. Both finalist are just so-so, nothing special…. I remember that I watched this season just to see what Katharine would be wearing each week. Was not really interested in her singing :P

Season 6 : Jordin Sparks vs Blake Lewis

This is a classic case of singing vs entertaining. Jordin was clearly the better singer, but Blake was a very entertaining performer. Close fight, but nothing spectacular.

Season 7 : David Cook vs David Archuleta

The only season where I felt that the finalists are equally good, each with their own strengths. Didn’t really matter who won, because both are doing equally good now.

Season 8 : Kris Allen vs Adam Lambert

Here’s where we found out that most of the people who vote for AI are teenage girls and probably housewives who fantasize about getting it on with handsome boys. How else can you explain Kris Allen winning the season? I guess America is just not ready for Adam Lambert yet. But then again, look at their career now…..

Season 9 : Lee Dewyze vs Crystal Bowersox

The same thing happened again this year with Lee winning the title over Crystal, who is clearly the better singer and entertainer. Well, we’ll just see one year after….
