Christmas Wish List 2010

I went to town yesterday (October 27) and they have already started to put up Christmas lights on the streets. This morning Starbucks has also started to introduce their Christmas beverages and merchandises. So, in the spirit of things, I have decided to be kiasu as well and put up my wish list early this year, hang up my stocking, and hope that one of you stalkers readers out there is Santa a billionaire with a big heart, and make me a very happy man :)

1. iLife '11 and Snow Leopard bundle

You probably know by now that I am a Mac, not a PC. Well, I use PC at work, but for everything else, I have my iMac, iPad, and iPod. Last week Apple has just released their latest offering for 'fun' softwares, which includes upgrades to iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband. Well, I don't really use Garageband, but I do use iPhoto and iMovie. It releases the inner movie director in me :P

Unfortunately, this version only works with the latest Mac OS, which is the Snow Leopard. So if I want to use this, I would have to buy the upgrade for Snow Leopard as well. Hmmm... evil, evil Apple! Now I have seen through your labirynth of upgrades! (but still hopelessly addicted to your products :P)

2. Playstation Move

Sony's answer to Nintendo Wii, this is one of the most anticipated gadget for gamers everywhere. Basically it allows you to control the game through body movements, thus giving parents one less reason NOT to let their kids play video games :P

Looking like a dildo flashlight with candy colored bulb at the end (it changes colors depending on the usage), I personally think it's a bit tacky, but hey, as long as it works fine.....

Currently there's not a lot of games available yet, and actually I don't have space to play.... yet, so I guess I can wait till next year to get this one.

3. Soulmate
Would be nice to have somebody who can cook, clean, do groceries and do household chores for me to love and to share my life with. As the song goes..... "a house is not a home when there's no one there to hold you tight, and no one there to kiss you goodnight..."

4. Bottega Veneta iPad case
Back to the material world, may I present to you the ultimate luxury in iPad casing. Many luxury brands have produced their own version (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, TODS, Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo etc etc), but none looks as luxurious as this one. It is understated elegance at it's best.

Sadly, it does come with a hefty price tag of S$920. That's even more expensive than the iPad itself :P

So, anyone have any extra cash or girlfriend to spare, contact me and we can exchange Christmas gift this year (just let me rummage through my stuff first and see if I can find unopened gifts from last year so I don't have to buy anything )

One Word

Having just watched Eat Pray Love, I was intrigued by one of the scenes in the movie. In that scene, the characters were asked to pick ONE word to describe themselves. For Elizabeth Gilbert (the main character of the movie), she stumbles at first, but finally finds her word at the end of her travels.

In the book, the word is antevasin, which is Sanskrit for “one who lives at the border.” But in the movie, it is attraversiamo, which is Italian for "to cross over". This word is also mentioned in the book, but not as "the" word. I'm not really sure why they change it.... I think the first word is better.

Which makes me wonder..... what is THE word for me? Well, I don't know any Sanskrit nor Italian, so here are some possible thoughts in English or Bahasa Indonesia :

• Fat
• Friendly (well, not really. I can be mean when I'm annoyed)
• Fun
• Creative
• Intelligent (starting to get a little too narcissistic... :P)
• Worldly
• Picky
• Sarcastic
• Konyol
• Cuek
• Explorer (emangnya gue Dora? Kayaknya lebih mirip Doraemon deh daripada Dora :P)

How the hell am I supposed to pick just ONE word? There's at least a quarter of million words (and growing) in the English language itself, and I don't think Bahasa Indonesia can ever be counted, with new (informal) words formed almost everyday  @_@

So, what do you think? (For those of you who know me) If you were to describe me, what would you say? And for everyone else, what's YOUR word?

Key To My Heart

Short post today. Just wanted to share something strange....

As you all know, this weekend I will be moving to a new temporary place, and so I have start packing. I consider myself to be quite good at packing (i.e good at throwing stuff away), but there is a strange thing that happens everytime I move : the magically appearing keys.

EVERYTIME I move...... I always find strange keys which I have totally no idea what for. And I always leave them behind or throw them away, but somehow everytime I move, there they are again..... well, I wish one of them is the key to my soulmate's heart (all : AWWWWWW..... :P)

1. akhir cerita inception
Since I think by now kebanyakan orang udah pada nonton kali ye, so nih gue kasih tau deh akhirannya. Akhirannya gak jelas si Leo berhasil keluar dari limbo apa kagak. Dari teori2 yang gua berseliweran di internet sih banyak yang bilang itu reality soalnya di scene terakhir dia kagak pake wedding ring. Selama film katanya sih kalo pas mimpi, dia pake ring. Pas reality dia gak pake ring. Gue males nonton lagi sih, so kalo ada yang bisa confirm, tolong kasih tau ya hehehe.

2. akhir cerita memento
Well gua gak inget detailsnya, tapi yang jelas scene terakhir sama opening scenenya tuh sama. Jadi film ini tuh diceritain dari belakang ke awal. Susah dijelaskan deh..... nonton aja kalo mau tau :P

3. baju yang pas dipakai ke singapura
Sesuai dengan postingan gua ttg Singapura, ya jelas kalo ke sini cocoknya pake t shirt, celana pendek, dan sendal. Eh tapi kalo mau ke kasino harus agak rapi-an dikit sih. Shorts and slippers not allowed.

4. cerita bikin ngantuk
Ini apa hubungannya sama blog gue ya? Apa mungkin maksudnya cerita2 gua bikin ngantuk??? Hmmm....

Errr...... apa pula ini?

6. living in seoul
Wah kalo tinggal di Seoul sih gue blom pernah ya.... cuma pernah liburan sekali ama business trip sekali.

7. toko havaianas di singapore
Toko pertama yang bring in havaianas di Singapore itu New Urban Male (http://www.newurbanmale.com/). Mereka gak cuma jual havaianas, tapi banyak brand2 lain juga. Outletnya banyak di mana2.... trus belakangan muncul yang namanya Havaianas Store. Ini khusus jualan sendal havaianas doag. So far baru ada 2 outlet di ION Orchard, sama di Raffles City mall.

8. yang lagi sale di singapore
Well, as I mentioned before...... yang lagi SALE di Singapore ya banyak. Anytime you come, PASTI deh ada sale. Oh ya, dan belakangan ini, since gua udah mulai memperhatikan dunia interior design, what I've noticed is..... yang namanya furniture tuh SALE ALL THE TIME. Salah satu alasannya ya seperti yang gua pernah mention juga..... orang kan beli furniture gak sering.... sebenernya kita juga gak tau itu harga sale apa harga asli.....

Bersatu Kita Teguh

Seperti yang lu tau sendiri, jualan Blackberry (BB) di Indo tuh udah kayak jualan kacang. Dan karena itu, orang Indo tuh merajalela di dunia maya seperti Facebook dan Twitter.

Contohnya, bulan lalu ada berita bahwa orang Indo tuh pengguna facebook #3 di dunia, setelah US dan UK. Dan katanya sih by the end of this year bakal jadi #2.... Berita lengkapnya klik di sini.

Nah kalo berita kayak begini boleh deh dibanggain.

Tapi...... ada juga berita2 Indo yang menghebohkan dunia sekaligus memalukan citra orang Indo. Seperti contohnya #ariel peterporn yang sempet jadi #1 trending topic di twitter. Duh berita kayak gitu aja bisa menggegerkan dunia..... 

Terus beberapa hari ini juga muncul lagi topic lain yang jadi trending topic juga...... dan yang ini sih GAK BANGET DEH YEEEE....... @_@

Open Letter to TANGS marketing team

Dear TANGS,

As a valued cardmember, first I would like to thank you for sending me the invitation flyer to your closed door preview sale. However, I would like to make a comment on the design of the flyer. I understand that as a competitive organization, you have decided to copy other companies follow the marketing trend nowadays by showing "real" people as your customer, and stop using super-skinny-i haven't eaten in 5 days-models to portray your organization's image.

Having said that, may I remind you that even in the "real world", there are many kinds of people : the ones that makes you go "ooh i want to be that guy/girl", the normal ones who make up the most of the population, and the ones that makes you go "ugh! i hope my son/daughter doesn't turn up like THAT". Please remember that the goal of marketing is to make people want to buy stuff from your store. Therefore, please consider this point next time you want to come up with another advertisement.

I don't want to get another shock when I open up the envelope. Although, it is a good way to wake you up in the morning  ;-P

Girlfriend / Boyfriend

I have a confession to make. Ever since I ended my last relationship, I have been feeling rather lonely sometimes. I have been introduced to many new friends and searched through many places in hope of finding a perfect companion that suits me. Finally I have narrowed the list down to 2 potential suitors, but I'm gonna have to make a choice soon.

Their profile is quite the opposite. In fact, one is a girl and the other one is a man. I know it's a bit unconventional, but you'll see why I'm falling head over heels for them.

* She's Japanese, while he comes from France.

* She likes to stay at home (TV is her best friend), while he enjoys showing off while walking down Orchard Road. Actually she does have younger sisters who enjoys the outdoors too, but they are just not as smart nor as pretty as this one.

* She is very smart, while he is hollow on the inside.

* She is cool to the touch, while his skin is as soft as a baby. But they both enjoy being touched a lot :)

* She is slim (thanks to the operation she had last year to get rid of all the excess fat), and his body is sturdy and nicely shaped.

* Just like all the girls in the world, you have to keep buying her accessories or soon the relationship will drift apart up to the point where you don't feel like touching her anymore (trust me, this is based on personal experience with her elder sister). But if you push the right buttons, she will shake and quiver to your touch.

* He, on the other hand, requires minimal maintenance. You only need to maintain good hygiene and you will have a long lasting relationship with him. This has been proven by his brothers and sisters.

* The only similarity I can find is they both come from big and rich family. Her family is a bunch of geeks, while his family is considered royalty in France (and many parts of the world).

So, which one should I choose?

It is now 4:44pm. Here are some random thoughts running through my head :

- Oh my god, I really need to lose weight....
- My workstation is so cluttered. Need to do spring cleaning before I move to my new cubicle (oh yeah, new year = new boss = new cubicle :)
- Why am I so lazy?
- What's happening in Desperate Housewives? Can't wait to watch the latest episode tonight.....
- Am watching Australia tomorrow.... 2 hours 45 minutes.... will I fall asleep?
- Still another 35 minutes until official working hours are over.
- Shall I go for a jog tonight?
- Seriously, EXERCISE!
